Butch

Who knew that when I woke up this morning with Rocky curled on the edge of my bed, that we’d have been shot at, then have to run through my emergency tunnel, before we were part of a kidnapping? Or that it would all happen before dinner? Fuck—me—

Here I’d thought the worst we’d deal with today was trying to figure out who messed with my security video and killed Murdock. The list of deep shit was growing by the second.

“What the fuck did you do that for?” I hissed at Ty once we were all in my upstairs office. “You assaulted a cop and then tied him up in my house!”

“Calm down, Butch. Lucas will get over it. We’re going to need to explain it all to him, but then once he hears everything, he’ll be on our side.”

“Our side? You mean the other side of the bars since we’re all going to be locked in a cell,” I snapped.

Quinn sighed loudly. “I’m not very happy with this decision either, Ty, but it’s done, Butch. Now we need to figure out how to make the best of it.”

Ty crossed his arms over his chest and hung his head briefly. “The way I look at it, Luc has to listen to us now. Let’s put the information that we have out there for him, and then we can go from there.”

“Yeah, but even the stuff we have right now isn’t enough to clear Rocky,” Wallie stated.

“Then we need to figure out how to tie this back to Rocky’s stepfather and the Pittsburg Mafia. Maybe if we tell Lucas about that, he’ll be more open to helping us,” Wayne added.

Ty snapped his fingers. “Didn’t Lucas mention that he knew who Claude was from his days working in Philly? I bet if we tell him that we can help him with info on another family, like one right here in Pennsylvania, then he might be willing to listen.”

For a few seconds after he’d mentioned Claude, I worried that he would suggest we help him nail the New York family to the cross. My heart had started doing double time in my chest until he changed it to the other syndicate.

“Look, let’s just tell him what we know about Rocky’s stepfather and see if he can help us with that. Then maybe we can get something else figured out,” Quinn stated. “The last thing I want to do is put Claude in the crosshairs, at least until I find out what he has on me.”

“True, boss,” Wallie said.

It was a mess, the whole thing, and I hated to put Rocky in the position to turn her stepfather over to the authorities, but what choice did we have? The man had been trying to kill us earlier, more likely her than me, which should make this an easier decision for her.

“Fine, but I need to make sure this is alright with Rocky first.”
